Ingredients:
Ingredients for the cake:
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup First Choice Milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 11 ml baking powder
- ¾ cup First Choice Butter
- 3 tbsp custard powder
- 1 tin of caramel treat
- 250 ml desiccated coconut
- 1 l First Choice Custard
Ingredients for the icing:
- 1 cup First Choice Butter
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 2 cups icing sugar
Preparation method:
Directions for the cake:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease an oven dish with butter.
- Beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the melted First Choice Butter and continue to beat.
- Add the First Choice Milk and beat some more.
- Sieve the flour, baking powder, custard powder and salt together.
- Mix the dry ingredients and wet ingredients together with a whisk in a figure 8 movement.
- Pour the mixture into the oven dish and sprinkle half the coconut over the batter.
- Bake for about 25 min until the wooden skewer comes out clean and dry.
- Poke the cake with the back of the wooden spoon. The holes can be in a line, about 3 cm's apart.
- Whisk the caramel with 1/4 cup of First Choice Milk and pour it into the holes.
- Pour and spread the First Choice Custard over the caramel layer.
- Top with the rest of the coconut.
- Refrigerate overnight.
Directions for the icing:
- Beat the First Choice Butter in the electric mixer until fluffy.
- Add the icing sugar, vanilla essence and mix in.
- Pour another layer of First Choice Custard and then a final layer of vanilla icing.
