- 100 g First Choice Butter, softened
- ¾ cup castor sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla essence
- 2 small eggs
- 1 cup self raising flour, sifted
- ¼ cup cocoa, sifted
- ½ cup buttermilk

- 30 ml red food colouring
Preparation method:
- Preheat oven to 160°C.
- Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla in an electric mixer for 8–10 minutes or until pale and creamy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after adding each.
- Add the flour, cocoa, buttermilk and food colouring and beat on low speed until combined.
- Spoon into a small greased cake tin.
- Bake for 45 minutes – 1 hour or until cooked.
- Turn onto a wire rack and allow to cool completely
