Pops & Chops - maize meal balls with a delicious filling!
Place the water in a pot on medium to high heat, and bring to the boil.
Add salt and maize meal and whisk until combined, with no lumps.
Turn the heat on low and let the maize meal steam for 45 minutes.
You can use store-bought cherries rolled in bacon, or do it yourself using toothpicks or a kebab stick. Fry the bacon and cherries until golden brown, then set aside.
Cut the First Choice Brie into small blocks.
Once the maize meal is cooked, use two spoons to make a ball. Use your thumb to make an opening for the filling. If the porridge is too hot, let it cool off slightly - don't burn!
Place the fillings inside and close up the ball.
Place each ball in the beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs and deep fry until golden brown.
