Consumers are becoming more particular about which products they purchase as increasing attention is placed on natural and environmentally-friendly products. Both product and packaging are scrutinised as the world moves towards sustainable business practices.
In light of this, Woodlands Dairy, producer of First Choice dairy products, offers consumers dairy products sourced from naturally pasture-fed cows’ milk, while all carton packaging used has a lower carbon footprint that other types of packaging. Woodlands Dairy, situated in the Eastern Cape, is considered to be one of the most environmentally-conscious brands on the market today.
In addition to being an environmentally-friendly Dairy, all UHT products carry the G-Free™ stamp of approval meaning that the produce is free of pathogens, bacteria and micro-organisms. “G-Free is our assurance that your milk is safe for the whole family, including toddlers. All milk is tested on each collection from the Dairy,” said Tinus Pretorius, Woodlands Dairy General Manager.
Woodlands Dairy has taken a 360 degree approach to creating environmentally-friendly products. Zero packaging is sent to landfill, while the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo ensures consumers that the product is from a responsible source. In addition, paperboard sourced by Tetra Pak and Nampak Liquide come from well-managed forests. The Forest Stewardship Council is a not-for-profit, independent and non-governmental organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Consumers can enjoy their purchases knowing it has not contributed to the destruction of the world’s forest.
The FSC™ label is the only internationally recognized quality seal for responsible forestry. Each certified organisation, receives a unique FSC-number, hence the different numbers on the Long Life and ESL packs.
“Woodlands Dairy and our suppliers Tetra Pak and Nampak Liquid, have committed to branding Woodlands Dairy dairy cartons with the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) mark, the highest and most recognized International certification of responsible Forestry management. All First Choice and Retail brands designs will be modified to include the FSC logo,” said Pretorius.
First Choice offers consumers a range of products, including Flavoured Milk as a firm favourite, already-set Jelly in a box and UHT long-life milk.
